Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

NILifi is built to be usable by every athlete, parent, and staff member who comes to it — including users of screen readers, keyboard-only users, users with low vision, and users with cognitive or motor differences.

Our target is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We design and review against this standard and treat accessibility issues as functional bugs, not nice-to-haves.

What we do today

  • Semantic HTML — landmarks, headings in correct order, lists as lists, buttons as buttons.
  • Keyboard support — every interactive element is reachable and operable without a mouse. Visible focus rings everywhere.
  • Screen-reader labels — accessible names on icon buttons, form fields, and decorative imagery hidden via aria-hidden.
  • Color contrast — body text meets the 4.5:1 ratio. Interactive text and icons meet at least 3:1.
  • Reduced motion — animations honor prefers-reduced-motion and degrade gracefully.
  • Resizable text — the layout reflows to 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling on a desktop viewport.
  • Forms with structure — every input has an associated label; errors are announced and focusable.
  • Captions and transcripts — every video lesson ships with captions; transcripts are downloadable.

Known gaps

We track open accessibility issues in our public roadmap. As of the date above, the items on our list:

  • The mobile-app PoC is in development; the marketing badges advertising it are placeholders. Mobile accessibility audit follows the iOS / Android build.
  • Some onboarding emoji pickers rely on visual differentiation; we’re adding text alternatives.
  • Older lesson media (pre-launch pilot content) is being re-captioned for consistency with the WCAG caption guidance.

If you find an issue not on this list, please tell us — that’s the most useful thing you can do.

How we test

  • Automated scans — axe-core integrated into CI on every change.
  • Keyboard-only walkthroughs — manual passes through every flow with no mouse.
  • Screen-reader checks — VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), NVDA (Windows), TalkBack (Android).
  • Real-user feedback — direct reports from athletes, parents, and athletic-department staff using assistive tech.

Compatible technology

NILifi works on current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, on macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android. We test screen-reader flows on Chrome + NVDA (Windows), Safari + VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), and Chrome + TalkBack (Android).

Report a barrier

Tell us as much as you can — the page or screen, what you were trying to do, what blocked you, and the assistive technology and browser you were using. We acknowledge reports within one business day.

Formal complaints

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice under the Americans with Disabilities Act, or with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights. We’d much rather hear from you first and fix the problem.
